3 basic pieces

Taylor Tomasi Hill
Sarah Jessica Parker

The other night, I was watching the Louis Vuitton ad about their "Iconic Bags" , and I began to think about the "iconic" pieces of fashion. New styles are introduced every year for every season, and somedays, I find it difficult to decide whether or not I should invest in those trendy pieces. Also, there are days when I have trouble trying to find something interesting to wear, or at least look presentable in some way. I think these 3 ladies have the perfect solution to the fashion blues, and all it takes are 3 simple pieces: a light denim, a blazer, and a neck accessory.

Léa Seydoux : Ghost Protocol

beautiful locks
simple black dress
 wearing a grey trench coat

This weekend, I went to Arclight Hollywood to watch Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol at the Dome. The movie was better than what I had anticipated for, and visually, I was able to travel to some of most spectacular places in the world: Dubai, India, and Moscow. However, I was amazed by how beautiful Léa Seydoux was in the movie, despite the fact that she was playing an assassin. Her medium locks with natural waves and bangs compliment her features beautifully. When I read her interview from the website, Into The Gloss, she talked about how she likes black dresses. Coincidentally, she wore a simple black dress in the movie as well, and she looked very chic. I think classic pieces, like a simple black dress or a trench coat (from the last picture), can add sophistication for any women.

Functional Prints

Vogue
placemats from Crate & Barrel

I discovered this little monster from Crate & Barrel, they were on sale for $4, so I decided to pick up a few of them for my family and friends {*fyi- these are reversible, but my camera doesn't pick up the black colored print as well as the silver}. I'm not bold enough to wear animal prints nor handle amphibians, but the clutch with the snake print is just divine! For now, I think the crocodile print placemats will do just perfectly for me.

Black & Orange

Rosie Huntington Whiteley
Nicole Richie
3.1 Phillip Lim

Black and orange are colors I often associate with Halloween, but somehow, the orange just brings the right amount of pop to the black outfit. I love the mosaic pattern on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's knitted sweater, and again, the orange color makes the bag more visible. Of course, we all recognize the infamous Hermes handbag carried by Nicole Richie; the orange bag is the perfect accessory downplayed by the dark vest and denim. As a combination of the two, I think Phillip Lim's Colorblock Pashli Satchel is just perfect. I'm always about less is more, so I'm envisioning this bag with a white Hanes shirt and light blue denims. But of course, you can always pair them with a simple maxi dress.

"Hello lover.."

New lover......

Ash
See by Chloe

Spring 2012 is just around the corner and with the holidays being over, I'm planning to kick off the new year with something slightly more comfortable and yet edgy. Every girl needs a heel, but these wedges are perfect for casual outings, especially the way the weather has been  in California. I would pair them with some skinny jeans and a crisp white shirt tucked in halfway.
